Welcome to high school Spanish 2010-2011! My name is Rachel Paz Rivera, and this is my third year at Sonoran Science Academy. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you in Spanish class this year!
I have several years of experience teaching both Spanish and English K-12 as a foreign language in the United States, as well as in South America. I am originally from Seattle, Washington, although my family roots are in SE Arizona. I attended college at the University of Washington in Seattle where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, and a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies: Latin America. During my undergraduate study I lived, studied, and taught English as a foreign language in Quito, Ecuador, as well as in Mexico where I studied Spanish Literature at La Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico. I relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 2005 to attend graduate school at the University of Arizona and earned a Master of Science Degree in Mexican American Studies from the UA in 2007.
I am really looking forward to continuing my teaching career here at the Sonoran Science Academy, and am looking forward to another fantastic year with our SSA students!
